Barro Canelo Pottery

The pre-Hispanic techniques used for making Barro Canelo pottery have been passed down from generation to generation in the Pajarito family. The labor-intensive process begins with gathering and crushing cinnamon-colored (Canelo) stones to make the clay, then forming and burnishing the pottery, painting with animal-hair brushes, and finally firing in a wood-burning kiln.

Take a look at the whole amazing process of making Barro Canelo pottery in this youtube video.
